Can Therapy Control Compulsive Overeating & Obesity?

Compulsive Overeating & Obesity

It isn’t about diets and it isn’t just about being fat.

According to recent figures, about 65% of adults are overweight (BMI>25), and 50% of overweight people are considered obese (BMI>30). While the diet and weight loss industry has exploded, Americans have been gaining more and more weight, especially in the past 20 years. If the goal of dieting is for us to reach and maintain a healthy weight, it is obviously not working.
Aside from what you eat, one must deal with where you eat, how you eat, when you eat, and why you eat. If one is not eating in response to hunger and only enough to satisfy that hunger, then there is another reason for the behavior. This is the crux of the problem, and as long as one avoids the motivating issues, the behavior continues. It is difficult to address these issues; if it were easy, the consequences of overeating would be strong enough to deter the behavior. The good news is, there are changes that you can make that are very powerful and long-lasting, and they deal with the way you think, how you feel about yourself, how you feel about your life, and the quality of your relationships.

If you are struggling with obesity and tired of yo-yo dieting, therapy can help you to identify what is really holding you back from reaching your goals of weight loss and management.
